HI Cherie,

I'd like to see Miller and Shumpert on the floor at the same time. Miller at the point and Shumpert play the SG spot. I don't think Iman is that comfortable playing the point, but he's a natural scorer. I agree Rice and Oliver need more minutes. De'Andre Bell has been a little disappointing to me this year.

Another game went to the wire Saturday and it was another loss. The Jackets are running out of time. They need to dig deep to get into the NCAAs.

As a intense GT Hoops follower, I have to agree. The talent this year is outstanding while the game results don't match. Sure, 18-8 is a solid year, but almost every game comes down to the wire. I think he has to cease the rotations he uses and start playing the top performing players 30 minutes a game, like other teams, using reserves sparingly. No one has truly stepped up because eleven guys are getting only 18-24 minutes a game. Sit Mfon, and give Rice and Oliver 30 minutes each, and go with Miller/Shumpert at point.

Hi Bill,

There isn't anything you've said that I can disagree with. No question Hewitt can recruit, but his in game coaching is borderline comical.

Coach Hewitt has continued his poor coaching this year with team that is talented enough to be in the top 10, but continues to not play up to their potential, a Paul Hewitt coached team specialty. Over the past 5 years, he has been able to recruit top players, but he has not been able to win with them. He is not a very good game coach. I have watched countless GA Tech games over they years where they either win out of luck (like the NC State game this year) or just fail to show up, turn the ball over way too many times and get killed. Hewitt has a very, very poor road record. ..and how about free throw percentage !?!?! All signs of poor coaching....

It is time for a change....

Hi Carlos,

Great well thought out comments.

Personally I think Hewitt just doesn't coach fundamentals very well. He relies to much on free-lancing. That's great if you have a dominant PG like Jarrett Jack or Javaris Crittenton, but if you don't have that, the offense is a disaster against a quality defense.

I fully agree with the comments. Tech will be what it has been for the last five years as long as "Chan" Hewitt is the
coach. Eight of Hewitt's 9 seasons have been anything from mild
to major disappointments. Only one season turned out better than expected, but we all know about the Blind Squirrel.
Even the year before our NCAA runner-up finish, GT had
a crappy 17-16 record, in spite of having basically the same team a the subsequent year PLUS Chris Bosh and Ed Nelson !!
The season after our lofty finish, we had 7 of our top 9 players back, added Morrow, Smith and Dickey and finished a
disappointing 20-12, winning one measly game in the NCAA's be-
fore being blown out by Louisville in the second game.
After that, it's been three out of four losing sea-
sons, with many of our supposedly better players regressing,
instead of improving, the longer they played under Hewitt (B.
J. Elder, Dickey, Schenser, etc.).
Another flagrant problem with Hewitt is his total in-
ability to recruit good solid white, middle class 4-year pla-
yers. Not one in ten years. Why not? Everybody else seems to matriculate a few (witness Duke, UNC, Kansas, Indiana, Gonzaga, etc. ad infinitum). All his good players seem to be one-year
wonders from situations where they have to declare for the NBA as soon as they can. No Reddicks or Hansbroughs for us. Cre-
mins seemed to be able to gent them (Price, Harpring).
Maybe we need to apologize to Cremins and bring him back, now that he is "re-charged". After all, AD David Brain-
less is gone now.
                    Love,
                          Carlos
